The old regime is the modern concept of “the will of the people” didn’t exist with French absolutism.
It is also the political and social system that existed in France before the French Revolution.
There was a big revolt against the old regmine because the 1st estate was taxing the 3rd estate which were the peasants like crazy. For an example the Corvee, Taille, Capitation, Salt tax, and, some indirect tax. which led a revolt from the peasants because the poor people paid for everything in France and they work their tails off by working and they can barley afford houses and food. While the rich and wealthy people don't pay for anything but gold and rich high quality food. The big revolt was in the year 1774.
